What motivates people to make certain choices? And how do these choices reflect the world they live in, their context? These questions take center stage in my articles and films. I want to make stories with substance that touch viewers, whilst always respecting the persons being portrayed.
On December 2nd 2021 my feature length documentary ‘Notes from Brussels’ had its world premiere in Brussels’ Cinema Galeries where the documentary screens that same month. ‘Notes from Brussels’ shows the human face behind the ‘Brussels bubble’. The documentary interweaves three intimate portraits of women in different phases of their life; a young French political assistant in the European Parliament, a Polish trade journalist and a German top EU official. The film “allows you to pause and reflect, together with the main characters, on more fundamental questions”. Check for screenings here.
Sign up to the newsletter of ‘Notes from Brussels’ to discover future screenings. It’s release on VOD is foreseen for September 2022.
The film can currently be booked for private group screenings, including for events that focus on themes such as Europe, (female) leadership, the future of work, (EU) careers and wellbeing at work. You can book your private screening here: https://www.notesfrombrussels.eu/#host-a-screening
My earlier work focused on;
- Short films; for exhibitions and (non profit) organizations. My short documentaries and film-portraits have been part of several museum exhibitions (a.o. in the Museum of Ethnology and the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden, the Africa Museum in Berg en Dal and the Drents Museum in Assen). My films tell timeless stories behind topical themes. Stories that focus on what connects us.
- Text; interviews, portraits and stories about societal trends. I published in a variety of Dutch newspapers and magazines, such as ‘het Parool’, ‘de Pers’, ‘FD Persoonlijk’, ‘Vrij Nederland’ and ‘Volkskrant Magazine’. I also write texts for exhibitions.
