What motivates people to make certain choices? And how do these choices reflect the world they live in, their context? These questions take center stage in my articles and films. Always with respect for those portrayed, I want to create stories that show the beauty and strength of people, also in their vulnerability.
Documentary film-project ‘Koorddansen op de grens’ | in development
Three lives balance a fine line between trade and power. In a time of geopolitical upheaval, Koorddansen op de grens (before The Merchant’s Map) explores the Dutch merchant mindset in a shifting global order. The film follows three professionals as they navigate the uneasy space between global trade, power politics, and personal integrity.
This film is a visually layered journey through the space between conviction and doubt, past and present, economic interests and moral questions. A reflection on the DNA of a trading nation and on the directions we choose when certainty fades.
With support from the Dutch Special Journalism Fund and the NOT Fund of the Dutch National Archives, I completed the research phase in 2024. The film is now in scenario development.

Earlier work;
- Short films; for exhibitions and (non profit) organizations. My short documentaries and film-portraits have been part of several museum exhibitions (a.o. in the Museum of Ethnology and the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden, the Africa Museum in Berg en Dal and the Drents Museum in Assen). My films tell timeless stories behind topical themes. Stories that focus on what connects us.
- Text; between 2006 and 2009 I was based in Rabat (Morocco) and wrote as freelance correspondent for ‘Het Parool’ and ‘De Pers’ and published in a variety of Dutchย magazines such as โVrij Nederlandโ and โVolkskrant Magazineโ. Back in the Netherlands I wrote several stories for ‘FD Persoonlijk’, the magazine of the Dutch financial newspaper ‘Het Financieel dagblad’.
